Just a little whining today....

Finally took the little guy to the pediatrician today, turns out he has an ear infection, the stomach flu, and since hubby was in the hospital for a staph infection they swiped his nose to rule out an infection (which could be likely...). I have tried for weeks with homeapathy, but just never got the kid right, so he is now on antibiotics for 5 days. Lots of pro-biotics and yoghurt in his future to keep his intestines healthy!

And I am starting to finally treat my cough, it is so deep down that today I am really hurting from my belly to my throat. Pediatrition gave me strict orders to rest, get plenty to drink, take my homeopathic medicine, and really bulk up on the Ashwaghanda etc! All rigth, thank goodness I did todays evening workout this morning, so I will be off and to bed in about 5 minutes!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Settling into Reboot

After the frantic pace of MAP its nice to be back at Reboot - one or two workouts a day, ED with a few fasts - its just much more doable for me! The new accumulator workout is quite interesting, all bodyweight, yet highly challenging! And meltdown with just one exercise per tabata instead of two is also a new challenge.

Other then that not much new, husband is finally recovering from his staph infection, he also had gout on top of it (which is now medicated), and I am doing a little medical research to read up on things. Sky, our little guy, has been throwing up all week and is complaining about a tummy ache, so he went to work with me for the last 3 days. He is a trooper, knows his way around, is a good boy, and got in quite a few naps under my desk! Which means he was really not feeling to good.... I sure hope he is okay tomorrow, I have meetings going on and really can't take him. And I have a cough that will not go away, I guess the stress of the last few weeks has been getting to me after all! Maybe I need even more tulsi tea and should upp my doses of Ashwaghanda!

Our trip to Germany is coming up soon as well, just 4 more weeks and we will be home to see my family!

Peaches, peaches, peacher

Our little neigborhood farm just got peaches in, delicious, sweet, ripe, wonderful, local peaches. We alwasy get the seconds, cheap and ripe, so yesterday we got 2 pecks. I made a wonderful peach crisp from my favorite gluten free site, Elenas pantry. http://www.elanaspantry.com/revised-peach-crisp/ Give this a try! Hubby, son and I finished the first one yesterday in one sitting, I made another one this morning, which went to the pool with us and was eaten around lunch time, we then called my husband and he made a 3rd one, double batch, which he brought to the pool. Again, all gone.... everybody loved it!
We still have a bunch more and I am freezing some to try some peach sorbet, to add to my shakes, and of course we are eating them all the time.

Love this time of year!!!!

Life after MAP

It's kinda weird that it is over.... not that I mind, I am glad that the constant stress of working out and being online is letting off now, and yet it was a comfortable and predictable environment.... We are all waiting for Reboot to start again, we should have started on Monday, but well, Dax get's a week off as well!

Foodwise I am easing up, added some mozarella to my salad today, and won't go all food nazi anymore on additives etc. But I will keep my water intake up, will keep my food cleaner then it was before MAP, and will workout every day! I still don't trust myself with sweets, so that is an area I will watch very careful.

And it is 10pm now, and I will go to bed, sleep well everyone!

Results - and pictures after 30 days of M.A.P. with Dax Moy!

30 days are over, and even though this time around I did not give it my all due to injury and a few curve balls life threw at me, the results are still amazing. I know I have been pretty lean before, but I can tell that I lost quite a bit of fat around my middle plus am much stronger again.

Total weight loss: 4.5 lbs
Total loss in cm: 6 cm

Here are my pics side to side: left one at the beginning, and right one this morning. I know it might not be quite visible to you, but I can definitly see and feel the difference around my middle - less flab!

So thank you Dax Moy for doing it again and allowing me to be part of one of your programs again! Check out http://www.londonpersonaltrainingstudio.com/ for more info, and sign up for Reboot - new workouts every month, new nutritional strategies, plus an amazing community! Thank you all for your support, your help, your concern, and for following my journey through those 30 days. I could not have done it without you and my love goes out to you! Thank you!!!

Monday, Day 29....

I really didn't expect to end the program like this... my stupid shoulder injury, that does not seem to get better and still bothers me, and then Dennis in the hospital, which leaves me holding it all together.

So what can I say: instead of 4 and now 3 daily workouts I got  in 2 daily this last week (meltdown in the morning, and Power Circuit in the hospital), plus whatever little other activity I could get in. My legs are so tired from all the lower body stuff I have been doing, that even the 2 workouts are a drag. I am unsatisfied with myself since I am usually a very gung-ho person, but there is nothing I can do. On the bright side my main focus of this challenge was to get my nutrition back on track, I was still eating healthy, but too much and too much sweet stuff. So that part worked out great, I discovered new recipes and generally enjoy the ED. I feel that I did loose some flab around my middle and am generally stronger in my lower body and core, plus I know that I lost a few pounds as well. Will measure and post pictures tomorrow!

So all in all, Dax has worked his magic again, despite everything conspiring against the program! Now I need to keep up the healthy eating and working out once or twice a day and I will be just fine! Check out http://www.londonpersonaltrainingstudio.com/ for more info!

Making do....

Okay, hubby is back in a different hospital... we went for a follow-up appointment yesterday at GW University hospital, and they promptly admitted him. There was talk about MRSA, and according to my research he is now on the one antibiotic that still seems to help with this staph infection. No clue where he got it from, since he is in none of the risk groups.

So I spent all day yesterday in the ER again, and while hubby dozed, I did lunges, squats, 1 leg RDLs, etc. as Meltdown, and later the power circuit. Didn't get home until past 10pm and just crashed. On the bright side I had started my carb day around lunch on Thursday, since I like to fast from lunch to lunch, so after breakfast yesterday when it became clear that we would be in the hospital for a while I just started my fast. So no crappy hospital food for me (I had not brought snacks or food, thinking we would be home by lunch, and I didn't want to snack!). Meaning my fast is almost over, another couple of hours and I will have some eggs.

Will do the ICP now, I know I am out of sync, but with my shoulder injury I just do what I can. Even though I am failing the program right now I know that I am NOT failing it: I am doing what I can with my injury and my husbands illness, and for me the nutrition part was more important this time around anyway, so I am doing good!

I am also making sure to take good care of myself - plenty of Tulsi tea, my supplements, enough sleep, enough water, and despite all that is going on I feel pretty good. Thanks to all of you for your well-wishes, its much appreciated :-)

Now on to the final spurt, good luck to you all!

Thursday, Day 25 - almost there!

Well, only 5 more days.... and today Dax finally took away the 4th workout. I have to admit that I had not been doing 4 workouts for a while now, sometimes barely got 3 in, which has less to do with timing, and more with my stupid shoulder injury.

It started getting better last week and I was easing back into push-ups, but well, now it hurts even more then before and the bone is sticking out even higher. With that said I have been doing mostly Meltdown, alternating lower body with core work, and the cardio on the bike. So my legs are just super tired, feel very heavy, and hurt! From squat variations to all the lunge variations, plus the squat-roll-back-stand-up thingey, its all there, but 3 times a day? It gets old, really old.

I will finish as strong as I can, but I will be happy when this is over. My main concern this time around was more the diet part, I know that I will always work out and be reasonably fit, but I tend to eat too much sweets and too many carbs. At least the diet has been good this challenge, even the hated low carb has not been that bad this time! I had a really hard time with it in January, but somehow this time was okay, even though now all the fresh fruit is in season! The fasts are going well, but I knew that I could do them and actually enjoy them.

So, all in all a mixed bag this time around and I know that I could have done more if my body allowed me to. But for now it has to be the Power Circuit with one arm, and lots of meltdown combinations!

Time for bed, hubby is finally home and I am working from home this week to be there for him. The bright side is that he is completely dependent on me right now since he can't walk: he is having broccoli and caulifower with eggs for breakfast, yoghurt as a snack, lean meat with beans for lunch, and dinner tonight was a big salad with organic chicken and more cauliflower :-) Maybe I can make him loose a few pounds of the many he needs to loose? So far he has not complained about it, which makes me very happy :-)
